Ongoing Projects

The project is being carried out in South Eastern Europe, in the regions of Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Albania.

The project’s goal is to empower the movement of persons with disability in the region.

Activities include ADS and partner organizations (Polio+, Lotos, Center for Independent Life) helping organizations of persons with disability through: trainings, consultations, regional networking with relevant organizations, micro-grants competitions, creating data bases about organizations of persons with disability in the region and providing contacts/resources for advocating rights of persons with disability.

Thirteen trainings have been held so far within the project, with the subjects of ‘Approach to Disability, Language and Terminology of Disability’, “Standard UN rules of equal opportunities for persons with disability’, “Project Planning”, whereas another ten are planned to take place by the end of the year. Contacts have been made with over 40 organizations throughout Serbia and Montenegro, of which ADS actively works with about 20 organizations. Four young persons with disability have been encouraged to continue their education. Three cross-disability organizations have been founded in Majdanpek, Pirot and Svrljig respectively, and several other of these are in the process of being founded.

ADS has joined the project in March 2003.
