Ongoing Projects

Project title: Network of Students of South Eastern Europe for inclusive higher education – Promoting inclusive higher education in South Eastern Europe

The project is being carried out at eight state universities in four countries from the region – Serbia (2), Moldova (3), Macedonia (2) and Montenegro (1). The project includes carrying out a joint research on the position of students with disability at the universities, analysis of relevant legal regulations (laws, university and faculty statutes, various university rule books). As part of these activities, the ADS (as well as UMHCG from Montenegro, ADS ‘Gaudeamus’ from Moldova, ZSPOP from Macedonia) carried out a survey with the aim of examining the position of students with disability in the universities of Nis and Belgrade, in order to look into situations, possibilities and hindrances students with disability face in their everyday academic life. Results of the survey will represent a starting point for creating proposals for altering legal regulations at all levels (legal, university and faculty levels) in order to create conditions for inclusive education and equality and equal opportunities for higher education of persons with disability. This research is the first of its kind in the region. The initial phase of the project started in December 2003 and is to last until September 2004, with the support from Higher Education Support Program of the Institute for Open Society from Budapest.
